I wasn't going to run this year but my daughter Megan calls me up and tells me she paid for our two entry fees on line and we were all set.I had hurt both my knees in a bike accident and was afraid to run just yet.
The day before the race Megan calls me to say I have a surprise for you, just pack your bag and don't forget a bathing suit.
To make a long story short she took me to a hotel in Lexington where the race was and bought me a steak dinner at Logans.
The next day it was pouring down rain for the race.So I dressed in jeans not to run, but took my running shorts just in case.
After we arrived they took a group picture and had a parade for all the survivors. Then I started to get "run fever".So raining or not I changed into my shorts in a porta pottie and went for it.AS soon as I put my running attire on my whole body began reeving up like a car moter for a race.I said whoa body whoa we are going to run easy today.
Megan always prays over me before the race and she prayed safety free from injury but that God would give me running legs. And He did , placing a cool 3rd in the worlds largest 5k race ever.Over 7,000 for a 5k.I ran 3rd in the survivor division and was tickled to death with that, but very surprised to place at all.Thank you Jesus.
Megan bought me a pin for my hat, as she has for the past 10 years that I have been a breast cancer survivor. We also stop off and show Zac our trophy at his office near by a new tradition we started last year.Today was a good day for me filled with love and support from those that love me.That's my true trophy:)
